Banks are becoming very particular about identifying their clients with an extreme emphasis on details, and refusing to open a new account unless the full and proper name of directors and shareholders are used in company and trust documentation. We are experiencing about two requests each week to change a client’s name on company and trust documentation to duplicate that person’s name as shown on their passport, driver’s licence or birth certificate.
Here are some examples (not using actual names):-
Whilst we will always be happy to make any changes you request, it is always better to make enquiries at the outset to be certain that everyone proceeds with the full, correct and formal name. You may ask your clients to allow you to sight their formal identification (driver’s licence, passport, birth certificate, etc) to be certain that the details they might casually give to you are appropriate and correct.
